Langtang Valley

The Langtang Lirung is the highest mountain in the Langtang Himal. It has an altitude of 7,227 meters. The first summit was made by a Japanese-Sherpa expedition in 1978. Other mountains include Yansa Tsenji, Naya Kanga, Dangpache, Dorje Lakpa, and Shelbachum.

Kinshung Glaciers

Several of the major peaks in the Khumbu region of Nepal have glaciers, including Langtang Lirung, Yala Peak, and Mount Everest. The largest is the Langtang Lirung, which is 7,227 meters. The glacier is fed by the snow and ice of the surrounding mountains. Over the past decade, the ice sheet has formed numerous lakes, some of which are large enough to float a small boat. This could mean trouble for the people who live along the slopes of Mount Everest. Luckily, the glacier isn’t quite as ice-laden as it was a few decades ago. However, scientists are still not sure what will happen when the ice sheet melts.

Probably the best way to see the glacier is to join a local trekking company or tour guide in the Khumbu region. They’re home to a wealth of species, and some of the best hiking and camping in the country.

If you want to avoid crowds, take a helicopter or jetpack.
